COUPLES DANCE CLASS
IN AUSTIN

A monthly Hip Hop class for any pair who wants to move together. Date night, connection, real dance — no experience required, no pressure to perform.

UPCOMING COUPLES CLASSES

What’s Coming Up

Couples Classes drop monthly with limited capacity. If you see one open and the date works, register early — they fill faster than you’d expect, especially around Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, and birthday season.

THE CLASS

Movement as Connection

Couples Classes are date night, but better. You learn something real, you sweat a little, you laugh a lot, and you leave with skills you’ll keep using long after the class ends — on the dance floor at weddings, in the kitchen on a Tuesday, anywhere.

We built Couples Classes because dance is one of the most direct ways to be present with another person. There’s no scrolling. No talking past each other. No script. Just you, your person, and a beat — learning the same move at the same time, watching each other figure it out, and finding the rhythm together.

The class is monthly, the format is foundational Hip Hop and partner-based movement, and the energy is judgment-free. Beginners are not just welcome — they’re who we built it for. Most of our Couples Class regulars had never danced together (or sometimes never danced at all) before they walked in.

Think of it as the highest-leverage two hours you can spend on your relationship this month.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What 90 Minutes Looks Like

Six things every couple gets in a Couples Class. The point isn’t to leave looking like dancers — it’s to leave more connected to each other.

The Connection

Dance requires you to be in sync with another body in real time. There’s no faking presence here. The class is structured to put you in eye contact, in step, and in flow with your person.

The Movement

Foundational Hip Hop and street dance — broken down into pieces simple enough that any beginner can follow, structured enough that you both leave knowing real moves.

The Music

A curated playlist designed for couples energy — not ballroom, not romantic cliché. Hip Hop, R&B, neo-soul, the kind of tracks that pull two people toward each other on a dance floor without trying too hard.

The No-Judgment Zone

Nobody is watching you fail. The instructor is teaching, your partner is figuring it out alongside you, and the rest of the room is too focused on their own steps to notice yours. Dance is forgiving when the room is.

The Take-Home Skills

You’ll leave with two or three real moves you can actually use the next time you’re at a wedding, a party, or a kitchen-dance moment. Not a routine. Real vocabulary.

The Date Night

Plan around it. Dinner before, drinks after, easy. The studio is on Burnet Rd in north Austin — walking distance to a half-dozen good restaurants and just a short drive from the rest of the city.

CLASS FORMAT

A Couples Class From Start to Finish

Each class runs about 90 minutes. Long enough to learn something that sticks, short enough to leave with energy left over for the rest of date night.

BLOCKWHAT HAPPENS
10 minArrival, opening circle, names, energy check
15 minWarmup — full-body movement, partner-aware exercises
35 minTechnique block — learn a phrase together, layer it up, run it with music
15 minPartner work — turn the phrase into a duet, lead-and-follow play
10 minOpen floor freestyle — the music keeps going, you and your person do you
5 minCool down + closing circle — what landed, what surprised you

Format flexes based on the couples in the room. Class energy shifts from playful to focused to playful again across the 90 minutes.

QUESTIONS

Before You Book

Quick answers for first-time couples. If your question isn’t here, email dance@danzversity.com.

Do we need any dance experience to attend a Couples Class?

No. Couples Classes are built specifically for first-timers. The whole class is taught from foundations — no rhythm required, no choreography to memorize ahead. You’ll learn together, and that’s the point.

Do I need to bring a partner, or can I attend solo?

Couples Classes are designed for pairs — you and someone you came with. The class works best with your person, but if you’d like to attend solo, email dance@danzversity.com first. We’ll let you know if there’s flex space in the next class.

What kind of couples come to these classes?

All kinds. Romantic partners, dating couples, married couples, queer couples, best friends, parent-and-adult-kid pairs, siblings — the class is built for any pair who wants to move together. The instruction adapts to who shows up.

How often do you hold Couples Classes?

Monthly. Each Couples Class drops on the upcoming events panel above when the date is confirmed — usually a couple weeks in advance. Bookmark this page or follow @danzversity on Instagram to catch the next one.

What should we wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in. Sneakers (not heels, not flip-flops). The studio gets warm with two bodies moving — layers help. Bring a water bottle for each of you.

Do you offer gift cards for Couples Classes?

Yes — Couples Classes are one of our most popular gifts for anniversaries, birthdays, or just because. Email dance@danzversity.com and we’ll set up a gift code for any upcoming class. Includes a digital card you can print or send.

What’s the refund policy?

Full refund if cancelled 7+ days before the class date. 50% refund if cancelled 3–6 days out. No refund within 72 hours of the class. Same policy for gift cards. Full refund policy at danzversity.com/legal/refund.

Can we book a private Couples Class for an anniversary or special occasion?

Yes. We host private couples sessions for proposals, anniversaries, wedding-dance prep, and other special occasions. Email dance@danzversity.com with the date you’re targeting and what you have in mind.
