ABOUT THE PROGRAM

TEEN HIP HOP DANCE CLASSES FOR AGES 13–17 IN AUSTIN

Elementz Crew is the top rung of the Danzversity youth ladder — the room where teenagers stop being taught dance and start building the dancer they want to be.

Thirteen to seventeen is the age where a kid decides whether dance is something they did or something they do. Elementz Crew is built for that decision. Classes at our Austin studio (7531 Burnet Rd, in the Crestview / North Austin area) run harder and go deeper than the younger groups: longer combos, real musicality work, cypher time where teens have to answer the music without being told what to do, and the expectation that you retain what you learned last week.

The class is built on the Elemental Dance Method™ — Danzversity's curriculum that breaks hip hop into four elements (Earth, Air, Water, Fire). Elementz Crew is where Fire lives: performance, presence, and the confidence to take up space. Teens here have usually moved through Earth foundations, Water flow, and Air dynamics — either with us since they were small, or compressed into a few months if they came in later. Both paths land in the same place.

No experience required, and prior training is welcome. Roughly half the room has never taken a class before; the other half arrives with ballet, jazz, contemporary, drill team, or cheer. Neither is a disadvantage. Trained dancers get their technique translated into hip hop vocabulary — which is usually a harder adjustment than starting fresh, because hip hop asks you to sit into the ground rather than lift out of it. Beginners get the foundation without being rushed past it.

Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 to 6:45 PM. Most families come twice a week ($150/month); once-weekly is fine too ($100/month). Both are month-to-month subscriptions you can cancel any time from the portal. The evening slot is deliberate — it clears middle-school and high-school practice schedules, and teens who come straight from another sport can make it.

Culture, not competition. Hip hop was born in the Bronx in 1973 and carried by communities of color, and by this age teens can handle the real history rather than a sanitized version of it. Every class carries a Culture Drop: where a move came from, who built it, why it matters. Teens leave knowing they are participating in something with a lineage — not performing a style they found online.

For teens who want more than class, Elementz Crew is the feeder for the DanzVRSR crews and the Breakin’ Series. Class is the foundation; teams are where it goes next.

THE CURRICULUM

WHAT YOUR TEEN WILL CONQUER

Elementz Crew goes deeper than any teen dance class in Austin. This is Hip Hop as a complete culture — not just choreography.

Storytelling Through Choreography

Build and learn routines with purpose and meaning. Every piece has a message — students learn to say something through movement, not just execute steps.

Performance Excellence

Develop professional stage presence and audience engagement skills. Elementz Crew performs at every Danzversity showcase — this isn't optional, it's the goal.

Leadership & Mentoring

Lead warm-ups, help younger dancers, and build team unity. Teens in this program don't just grow as dancers — they grow as people who know how to show up for a community.

Battle & Showcase Ready

Prepare for dance battles, showcases, and community performance opportunities. We honor the competitive and cipher traditions of Hip Hop culture — not watered-down versions of it.

Personal Style Development

Cultivate a unique movement signature while mastering multiple Hip Hop styles. By the end of Elementz Crew, your teen will have a voice — not just technique.

Physical & Mental Strength

Build endurance, flexibility, and confidence that extends beyond dance. The discipline in this room follows them into school, relationships, and everything else.

GOOD TO KNOW

COMMON QUESTIONS

What ages are Elementz Crew for?
Elementz Crew is our teen hip hop dance class for ages 13 to 17 — the most advanced age group in the Danzversity youth ladder, after Vibe Builders (8–12).
When does Elementz Crew meet?
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 to 6:45 PM at the Danzversity studio, 7531 Burnet Rd, Austin TX 78757. Free parking out front.
How much does Elementz Crew cost?
$100/month for once-weekly attendance, or $150/month for twice-weekly. Both are month-to-month subscriptions you can cancel any time through the student portal. Your teen's first class is free, and enrolling never charges your card before that first class.
What if my teen has never danced before?
That's about half the room. Elementz Crew teaches the foundation rather than assuming it — a first-timer at 15 is not behind, they're just starting where everyone starts. The teens who came up through our younger groups are working on depth, not speed, so nobody is racing anyone.
What if my teen has prior dance experience?
Welcome — and expect an adjustment. Ballet, jazz, contemporary, drill team and cheer all transfer, but hip hop asks you to sit into the ground rather than lift out of it, which is often harder for a trained dancer than for a beginner. We translate the technique your teen already has into hip hop vocabulary rather than asking them to abandon it.
Can my teen audition for a team?
Yes. Elementz Crew is the feeder for the DanzVRSR crews and the Breakin’ Series. Teens who attend consistently — especially twice weekly — typically become eligible after a few months of training. Auditions are announced to current students first.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes — your teen's first class is on us. Head to the homepage and tap FREE TRIAL to pick a night. No card, no commitment.
What should my teen wear?
Mandatory dress code: t-shirt + sweatpants or comfortable pants + sneakers. Not allowed: dresses, skirts, shorts, crop tops, or open-toed shoes — hip-hop is floor work and big movement, so clothes have to move and cover. It's one dress code across every Danzversity kids' program, and teens out of dress code will be asked to change before joining the floor. No jewelry, no gum.
