UPCOMING FAMILY CLASSES
What’s Coming Up
Family Classes drop monthly. Each class has limited capacity so we can keep the energy intimate — if you see one open, register early to lock your family’s spot.
THE CLASS
Why Families Move Together
Family Classes are exactly what they sound like — parents and kids on the dance floor at the same time, learning the same moves, sweating in the same room. No drop-off, no spectator section. Everyone’s in.
We built Family Classes for the parents who’ve been watching their kid dance from the lobby for years and wished they could be in the room. For the families that try to find activities everyone actually wants to do. For the grown-ups who think they’ve forgotten how to be silly in front of their kid — you haven’t.
Each class is monthly — one date, one room, one shared experience. We adapt the instruction to who’s in the room: if it’s mostly toddlers and parents, the moves stay foundational and playful; if there’s a teen contingent, we layer in technique. The Hip Hop is always real. The pressure to perform is always low.
This is the most direct expression of our brand pillar: more than moves — it’s culture. Family Classes are how we live "studio family" out loud.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What an Hour Looks Like
Six things every family gets in a Family Class. The order shifts; the heart stays the same.
The Bond
Movement is one of the few things that actually requires being present together. No phones, no distractions, just your family in the same rhythm. That’s the whole pitch.
The Movement
Foundational Hip Hop and street dance — broken down so a four-year-old can follow and a fifty-year-old can keep up. We teach to the room, not over anyone’s head.
The Culture
A shortened Culture Drop is part of every class — a one-minute story about where the move came from, who the pioneers were, and why it matters. Kids absorb it; parents learn alongside.
The Mix
Most Family Classes draw a mix of ages — toddlers, grade-schoolers, teens, parents, sometimes grandparents. The mixing is part of the fun. Your kid will learn from someone else’s; you might too.
The Music
A curated playlist that works for kids and parents both. Hip Hop is broad enough that we can pull tracks anyone in the room knows — and surprise everyone with something they don’t.
The Welcome
Zero dance experience required — for adults or kids. No special clothes, no judgment, no audition. Show up, take your shoes off (sneakers stay on), get into it.
CLASS FORMAT
A Family Class From Start to Finish
Each class runs about 60 minutes — long enough to learn something real, short enough that no one tunes out. Specific times for the next class show up on the registration page.
Format adapts based on the ages and energy in the room. The shape stays the same; the substance bends to the families who showed up.
QUESTIONS
Before You Bring the Family
Quick answers for first-time families. If your question isn’t here, email dance@danzversity.com.
What ages can join Family Classes at Danzversity?
All ages. Family Classes are designed for parents and kids of any age to dance together. We’ve had toddlers in front carriers, grade-schoolers, teens, and grandparents in the same room. The instruction adapts to who’s there.
Do I need to dance with my kid, or can I just watch?
Family Classes are built for participation. The whole point is moving together, side by side. If you’d rather observe, you’re welcome to sit and watch — but the energy is much better when grown-ups join in. Even one parent-and-kid pair on the floor changes the room.
What if I (the parent) have no dance experience?
Perfect. Most Family Class parents are first-timers. The whole class is taught from foundations up — no rhythm required, no choreography to memorize. The kids will probably pick it up faster than you, and that’s part of the fun.
How often do you hold Family Classes?
Monthly. Each Family Class drops on the upcoming events panel above when the date is confirmed — usually a couple weeks in advance. Best way to catch the next one is to bookmark this page or follow @danzversity on Instagram.
What should we wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Sneakers (not flip-flops, not heels). The studio gets warm — layers help. Bring a water bottle for everyone.
Do we need to register in advance?
Yes. Family Classes have limited capacity so we can keep the energy intimate and the floor space safe. Register through the upcoming events panel above when the next class is announced.
Can siblings attend together?
Absolutely — siblings dancing together is what Family Class is built for. Add each child to the same registration. The more of your family in the room, the better the experience.
What’s the cost?
Pricing is set per event and shows up on the registration page when each Family Class is announced. We keep it accessible — Family Classes are a community-first program, not a profit center.
