ABOUT DANZVERSITY
AUSTIN’S HIP HOP DANCE ACADEMY

A cultural dance academy where dance, diversity, and community create something bigger than a class. We move. We connect. We embrace culture. We elevate humanity.

OUR STORY

WHERE DANCE, DIVERSITY & COMMUNITY CREATE MAGIC

At 16, Jaymie O. Howard declared she'd own a dance academy. Not a studio. An academy. A place that would give people more than steps — a place that would give them a community, a culture, and a version of themselves they hadn't met yet.

That promise became Danzversity. Our mission is to provide humans with more than just dance classes — a unique experience where we grow, both mentally and physically, as humans and dancers. Come as you are. Dance to express, not impress.

WE ARE

  • A holistic movement experience
  • A safe, inclusive space for every body
  • Expression, creation, and healing through dance
  • Community over competition — always
  • Rooted in Hip Hop culture, not just Hip Hop moves

WE ARE NOT

  • × A typical dance class
  • × An ordinary studio
  • × A competitive dance culture
  • × Drama-based or win-lose mentality
  • × Here to rank or gatekeep

“Our wish for you is that you leave every class feeling grounded, heard and seen.”

OUR FOUNDATION

THREE ROOTS

Everything we do grows from three interconnected roots. Pull on one, and you pull on all three.

💃
DANCE DIVERSITY

Preserving the history and culture of Hip Hop and street dance. We don't just teach movements — we teach where they came from, why they matter, and who created them.

🌱
PLANET HEALTH

Every class you take impacts the planet. Through our Ecologi partnership, Danzversity has helped plant 600+ trees and counting. We're building a forest, one class at a time.

🤝
SOCIAL DIVERSITY

Building inclusive communities where every human belongs. Hip Hop was born from people who needed a space to be heard. We're carrying that forward, right here in Austin.

THE VISION KEEPER

Jaymie O. Howard — Founder & Creative Director of Danzversity

Jaymie O. Howard

FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

“Always be a star — one that brings light when there’s darkness.”

Jaymie has been moving to a different beat her whole life. As a dancer, choreographer, and educator, she built Danzversity from a teenage declaration into a living, breathing community.

She teaches every youth class herself. She knows every student’s name. She creates the curriculum, leads the culture, and shows up on the floor every single day. Danzversity isn’t just her business — it’s her calling.

OUR IMPACT

EVERY CLASS YOU TAKE IMPACTS THE PLANET

Be part of our movement around the globe. Facilitating global healing through the arts — one class at a time.

COMMUNITY

From (You)nity Nights to Family Classes to after-school programs — we build the kind of community Austin needs more of.

🎵
CULTURAL

Hip Hop was born from resistance, joy, and survival. We teach its history, honor its roots, and make sure the culture stays alive.

PERSONAL

Confidence. Discipline. Self-expression. The skills built in this room follow students into everything else they do.

THE FRAMEWORK

THE ELEMENTAL DANCE METHOD™

A progressive journey through the elements. Every student moves through four phases — each one building on the last, each one deeper than the one before.

🌱

PHASE 1 · FOUNDATION

Hip Hop fundamentals, basic footwork, and foundational grooves. Students learn to feel the music before they try to impress anyone with it.

PHASE 2 · CREATIVITY

Freestyle building, cipher etiquette, and creative expression. Students start developing their own voice instead of just borrowing someone else’s.

PHASE 3 · EMOTION

Fluid movement styles, emotional expression, and smooth choreography. Students learn to let the music move through them, not just at them.

PHASE 4 · POWER

High energy, dynamic movement, powerful performance. Students step into who they’ve been becoming. This is where the work pays off.
