THE COLLECTIVE

COMMUNITY DANCE EVENTS
IN AUSTIN

Beyond the regular class schedule — events, experiences, and gatherings that bring the Danzversity community together and open the doors to everyone.

Dance to express, not impress

WHAT IT IS

Six Doors Into the Studio

The Collective is everything Danzversity does outside the regular weekly class schedule — the public-facing layer of the studio, built specifically for people who aren’t enrolled in our Method classes (yet).

Some Collective programs are recurring (Family Classes, Couples Classes, and Workshops happen monthly). Some are seasonal (Camps run during summer break and on school holidays). One is sponsored by the City of Austin ($40K ELEVATE grant funds (You)nity Nights as a free monthly arts night through December 2026). One is rooted in the original spirit of Hip Hop — Dance Battles bring the cypher culture into Austin’s scene quarterly.

What ties them all together: low barrier to entry, real Hip Hop culture, no audition, no hierarchy, and a studio room that opens wider than it does for anything else we do. Most attendees at any given Collective event are first-time visitors. That’s the whole design.

QUESTIONS

Before You Walk In

Quick answers for first-time Collective visitors. If your question isn’t here, email dance@danzversity.com.

What is The Collective at Danzversity?

The Collective is everything beyond Danzversity’s regular weekly class schedule — the events, gatherings, and one-off experiences that bring the studio community together. Six categories: (You)nity Nights (free monthly arts), Family Classes, Couples Classes, Dance Camps, Workshops, and Dance Battles. Some are weekly, some monthly, some quarterly. All centered on Hip Hop and street dance culture.

Who can attend Collective events?

Anyone. Each program has its own audience focus — Family Classes are for families, Camps are for kids ages 5–15, Couples is for pairs — but the spirit of The Collective is openness. (You)nity Nights and Dance Battles are open to anyone in the Austin community whether you’ve ever danced before or not.

Do I need to be a Danzversity student to participate?

No. The Collective is the public-facing layer of Danzversity — built specifically for people who aren’t enrolled in our regular Method classes. Most attendees at any given Collective event are first-time visitors. The studio doors open wider for these events than they do for any other reason.

How do I find out when events are happening?

Each program page has its own upcoming events panel that pulls live from our calendar. The fastest way to catch new events is to follow @danzversity on Instagram or bookmark the program pages you care about. (You)nity Nights and Workshops drop multiple times a month; Family, Couples, and Battles drop monthly to quarterly.

Are Collective events free or paid?

Mixed. (You)nity Nights are free (funded by the City of Austin ELEVATE grant). Dance Battles are usually free or low-cost to attend, with optional registration fees for bracket dancers. Camps, Workshops, Family Classes, and Couples Classes are paid — prices listed on each program page or registration page. We try to keep everything accessible.

Where is Danzversity located?

We’re at 7531 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78757 — in the Crestview / North Austin area. Free parking in the strip lot directly in front of the studio. Easy access from MoPac or 183. All Collective events happen at the studio unless otherwise noted on the specific event page.
